French Connection: Head to Daniel-Kayne’s studio (2300 McKinney #403) for a special showing of French mid-career sculptress Veronique Chalandar, featuring semi-figural works from her “Totems” and “Originelles” series (March 26, through the Texan-French Alliance for the Arts, 713.822.2060; part of the French Cultures Festival; francophonie-texas.org).
The francophone troupe “Et Voila Théâtre” presents “The House of Bernarda Alba” a play staged in French and Spanish with English surtitles. Federico Garcia Lorca’s masterpiece explores such themes as passion, oppression and conformity in a male dominated rural society, through the eyes of Bernarda and her daughters. The sculptures of the set are realized by the French artist Véronique Chalandar; those masterpieces will afterwards be shown at Daniel-kayne’s studio from March 26.
