When founded in 1984, Musiques de Nuit's mission was mainly devoted to the spread of jazz and world music. Nowadays the actions of Musiques de Nuit has changed considerably. 

On top of the diffusion of jazz and world music to a larger audience, Musiques de Nuit's activities have moved from the early 90s to local work to foster awareness of artistic practices.

A particular attention is paid on music schools where many training classes have been organized. There, the young students will meet musicians representative of the chosen artistic fields such as jazz and world music.
